This tip is good for any browser versions whether you are a Mac or a PC user:
Many times I have visited pages that had video tutorials which I bookmarked in order to keep it as a reference. Bookmarking is a way to keep your tutorials handy, but sometimes when we try to load up the page, we get a nice 404 page not found or a message telling us the video is no longer available.
Now, if you right click on the video hoping you could save it as, you will soon realize that the video has been converted to a flash format called .flv to reduce the bandwidth on the loading page which also helps the page load faster.
Now here is the good news I will be sharing with you all today: THERE IS A WAY TO ACTUALLY SAVE THESE VIDEO FILES ONTO YOUR COMPUTER WITHOUT HAVING TO DOWNLOAD ANY SOFTWARE!!! Yay!
It's called KeepVid which enables you to copy/paste the url address where the video is located and paste it on the page then click on download. This will simply download THAT specific video file you want into a .flv format.
Once downloaded on your computer, you can view as often as you need and it will load up using Adobe Media Player.
You could also change the format into mp4 by changing the extension of the file.
Here is the link of KeepVid: [link]
And here is the link where you can download Adobe Media Player (though it normally comes with CS): [link]
Even simpler for Firefox users:
For Firefox users, simply click on your toolbar: Tools>Add-ons then do a search on video downloader. If you have the most recent version of Firefox as of today, I would suggest the following add-on: [link]
Now for Mac users only:
For Mac user, you might want to consider iSquint. This tool is free for Mac users.
Enjoy all!
